Octo-Hoops
These earrings feature intricately detailed, three-dimensional wooden Japanese ojime beads made of boxwood. These handcarved octopus beads are made out of boxwood and are signed by the artist. They are also surprisingly light!
Because Japanese kimonos do not have pockets, small bags were used to hold personal effects. The bags were attached with a cord with two carved beads: A larger toggle bead (netsuke) and a smaller sliding bead (ojime). Ojime were also believed to have magical or protective qualities.
These octopi dangle on beaded loops with little purple swarowski crystal accents which hang on silver plated hooks. I can also switch them to surgical steel or sterling silver for folks with sensitive ears too, and if you want them, I have little earring backings too to ensure you don't lose them - just let me know when you purchase in the notes to the seller section of the check out screen.
