Circinus
Circinus is a nearby active galaxy which belongs to a class of mostly spiral galaxies called Seyferts, which have compact centers and are believed to contain massive black holes. Seyfert galaxies are themselves part of a larger class of objects called Active Galactic Nuclei or AGN, which have the ability to remove gas from the centers of their galaxies by blowing it out into space at phenomenal speeds. Astronomers studying the Circinus galaxy are seeing evidence of a powerful Active Galactic Nuclei at its center.
This loop pendant features a really marvelous borosilicate glass creation at the center by artisan lampworker Elizabeth Girod of a rainbow of colors encased in a layer of clear for depth which really glows with color in the light. It is surrounded by fine glass beads of blue and chocolate brown hues, faceted blueberry quartz gemstones, rich chocolaty Zebra Onyx stones, and blue-brown swirled little borosilicate donut beads, encased in a layer of clear for added depth, with silver accents.
The loop is double-strung with strong nylon coated wire and hanging from a satin cord which closes with a lobster-claw clasp that has a teeny starfish charm accent.
Borosilicate glass is a special kind of glass which is actually more durable than normal glass - it is the same kind used in Pyrex and is less dense than ordinary glass and it also requires a much higher temperature to melt compared to ordinary silicate glass.
This necklace also looks super on a Navy Blue or Chocolate Brown cord! Let me know by leaving me a Note To Seller if you want it on a color other than the black shown here when purchasing! |
